Hair removal may be practiced for cultural, aesthetic, hygienic, sexual, medical, or religious reasons. Hair does not generally grow on the lips, back of the ear, the underside of the hands or feet, or on certain areas of the genitalia. Males and some females may also have thicker hair growth on their face, abdomen, back, buttocks, anus, areola, chest, nostrils, and ears. īoth males and females have visible body hair on the head, eyebrows, eyelashes, armpits, genital area, arms, and legs. Hair becomes more visible during and after puberty and men tend to have thicker, more visible body hair than women. Hair typically grows all over the human body and can vary in thickness and length across human populations. Hair removal, also known as epilation or depilation, is the deliberate removal of body hair or head hair. Anterior view of major and minor (lighter color) body hair growth areas in anatomically typical males and females Probably because straights, perhaps surprisingly, are pretty much the easiest on the skin of any way to shave. Not to be confused with hair loss. Oh well, luckily that didn't apply to straight razors and my Koraat works just fine. Still kinda sad that the nicest ones were the ones I didn't get along with. Trying injectors (and Gem!) is a good idea because even if you don't wind up using them most of the time, getting the hang of a whole different type of razor will likely improve your technique overall. I guess the lesson is that it's all very subjective and it's well worth trying a few things because it's hard to predict which will work best for you. And the Variant works fine so it's not the weight. And I had an easier time with my old type, even my MMOC so it's not blade exposure. And the part where you can easily disassemble it was nice for cleaning and lets you use blades that don't come with a key.įor DE I had a similar problem with Karve, even the OC-AA plate. Otherwise I really like it, had the solid stainless one and it was a beautiful object, far more so than the J type I prefer. It gave me irritation on my neck and I couldn't work out a good way to use it. ![]() TL DR Injectors can be great but their biggest con and best attribute is that they aren't as popular as DE. As a basic rule the Schicks got more mild over the years with the later models being significantly tilted toward mild and comfortable than the originals so you can sorta target your preference by picking a model type. There are only a few overall Injectors that command real collector premiums. If you go vintage Injectors benefit for being less popular because they're fairly available and don't command the markup that Gillettes seem to get on sites like eBay recently. The upside is both the Parker and the Supply can be adjusted to your taste between mild and aggressive. The Stainless version of the Supply is a bit too heavy in my opinion and not worth nearly double the price. I'd personally opt for the Alloy version as it still has good heft to it and has more available finishes. Its certainly better looking and feels premium and comes with multiple guard plates to adjust comfort. (Disclosure I haven't used the Parker.) Then there is the Supply as the premium/luxury option. Its about $30 and exists as the more budget option for new Injectors. Parker just put out a new adjustable Injector that takes queues from both the Schick Type M and PAL adjustable. There are much better options between vintage and new.įor new razors I think you basically have 2 options. The biggest current con to Injectors is there are really only between 3 and 5 blade choices for them, but realistically there are usually only 2 easily available. But like DE razors, not all Injectors will work for all people. I think Injectors benefit by having blades that are more rigid and last longer than DE blades as well as having a form factor that seems more familiar to most ex-cartridge shavers. I own a Supply and I absolutely adore it to the point where I've primarily been shaving with it for the last 3 months. I think Injectors are great razors that have unfortunately always lived in the shadow of double edged razors. New? Curious? Have questions?
